Castle View Apartment is right on the Grassmarket in Edinburgh’s Old Town. There are plenty of cafés, pubs and restaurants within a stone’s throw – and plenty more within a few minutes’ walk. Your only problem will be deciding where to eat! We have some personal favourites that we’d like to recommend:

• Petit Paris in the Grassmarket serves lovely French food, and their Plat du Jour menu (lunch and early evening) is good value.
• Howies on Victoria Street provides good Scottish fayre, also with good value set menus.
• Mamma’s pizza in the Grassmarket if you like pizza.
• Pizza Express is at the junction of Victoria Street and George IV bridge (great for children).
• Mums on Forrest Road for a good traditional breakfast.
• Elephant House on George IV Bridge.
• Oink on Victoria street for an excellent hog roast roll at lunch time.
• Patisserie Valerie is appealing for posh coffee and cake.
• Timberyard on Lady Lawson St is pricey and trendy but might just appeal for that special occasion.
• The Witchery on Castle Hill is well known for its fabulous location.
